Cosmo is utilised daily as both a movement-based warm-up tool and a targeted therapeutic device to address specific movement difficulties.
Percy, a child with complex cerebral palsy and severe visual impairment, engages with Cosmo during weekly therapy sessions to enhance his visual, upper limb, and movement skills.
To develop purposeful hand movements, enhance cause-and-effect skills, and improve head-turning ability.
Cosmo was introduced with a single switch mounted on Percy’s wheelchair. Initially, Percy played cause-and-effect games such as Fish Tank and Fireworks. Over time, this evolved into using two buttons on separate mounts, enabling engagement with the storytelling app and promoting successful movement within his range. Adjustments to light colours were made to accommodate Percy’s visual abilities.
Percy demonstrated increased engagement and motivation with Cosmo. The therapy sessions led to improvements in purposeful hand movements, extended arm range, and better head-turning to the right—a challenging area for him.
